Situated between the Douarnenez bay and Brest's natural harbour, the Crozon peninsula and its seabeds are protected by the Armorique Regional Nature Park. On the peninsula, vegetation mainly consists of moors and heaths, but also pine forests at certain places.
Famous for its jagged coastline and its numerous steep cliffs, the Crozon peninsula has a number of very interesting sites like:
The Penhir headland and its "Heaps of Peas", a famous alignment of three rocks;
The Espagnols headland where walkers will find a beautiful panoramic view of Brest's natural harbour;
The Dinan headland possessing numerous viewpoints of the surroundings, specifically Chèvre cape and Raz headland to the left, and Penhir headland to the right;
The Chèvre cape, which boasts numerous footpaths running alongside high cliffs.
These stunning places are great for invigorating walks, taking photos and recharging your batteries.
Crozon is a coastal town of Finistère in Brittany, halfway (50 km by road) north of Brest and Quimper south.
Its territory a large area (80 km²) covers a large part of the eponymous peninsula which faces north of the harbor Brest and south of the bay of Douarnenez.
This privileged geographic location remains its greatest asset. Composed of four villages (including the resort of Morgat) and more than 150 villages, the town and boasts of owning some 60 km of coastline and a couple of beaches!
Occupied long before our era (megalithic alignments demonstrated), dominated first in the Middle Ages by the lord of Crozon built on a feudal mound became Fort Lanvéoc, the locality is then governed by the lords of Rohan (XVI) before the governor of Quimper also became Earl of Crozon (XVII).
The agricultural and maritime activities (fishing) has not disappeared, but tourism has become an early economic strength of the town which now has about 7500 inhabitants, a population almost tenfold in the summer. It is true that its assets (water sports, landscapes, heritage, cultural vitality) in the Armorique Regional Natural Park make it one of the tourism capitals in Finistere.
